Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)

Purpose: A Student Organization associated with Family & Consumer Sciences (Culinary Arts, Foods & Nutrition, Education & Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Hospitality & Tourism, Clothing Design & Construction, Interior Design & Housing)

# of regular attendees or members: 50 (for the district, including all three high schools)

 

Meeting Time: Monthly school-based meetings are held during lunch as announced, as well as monthly district meetings

 

Meeting Location: Room 110 at Nampa High or R100 at Skyview HS

 

Sponsored Events/Activities: The program includes opportunities for district, state, & national competitions; involvement in community services & school activities; character & leadership skills development; creative & critical thinking development; interpersonal communication; practical knowledge; and career preparation.  Activities include community service projects like Rake-Up Nampa in the fall and Empty Bowls Day in the spring, as well as numerous other fundraising events and bake sales, etc.

 

Generally there is a $25 fee for State and National dues for FCCLA.  Students are entered into the national register and state registers when affiliated.  Students  joining may get to attend activities involving other Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's) like FFA, BPA, HOSA, TSA and SkillsUSA.  Fundraising monies are used to help cover costs associated with competitions and for various group activities.
